Skin Booster FAQs – Doctor-Led Answers for Patients in Wakefield & Yorkshire

Skin boosters are an injectable treatment designed to improve skin quality, hydration, and elasticity. Unlike dermal fillers, they do not change the shape or structure of your face.

What is the difference between Skin Boosters and Dermal Fillers?

Think of it this way:

  • Dermal Fillers: Restore volume, structure, and shape (like foundation/contouring).
  • Skin Boosters: Hydrate, smooth, and improve texture (like a powerful injectable moisturiser).

Skin boosters (like Profhilo or Seventy Hyal) spread under the skin to hydrate from within, giving a “glow” without adding bulk.

What approach do you use?

We typically administer skin boosters in a course of two treatments, spaced 4 weeks apart. This allows for maximum stimulation of collagen and elastin.

What does the treatment involve?

Small injections are placed at specific points on the face (often 5 points on each side for Profhilo). The product then spreads under the skin.

Is there any downtime?

You may see small bumps at the injection sites, which look a bit like bee stings or mosquito bites. These typically settle within 12–24 hours as the product absorbs.

Who is suitable for Skin Boosters?

Almost anyone. They are excellent for:

  • Dry, crepey skin
  • Fine lines
  • Dull complexion
  • Neck and slightly loose skin

Do they hurt?

There can be a mild stinging sensation as the product enters the skin, but it is quick and generally well-tolerated. Numbing cream can be applied if needed.
